Ralph Sadao Hondo's Obituary
Ralph Sadao Hondo was born on 1/02/1925 on Maui and passed away on 5/01/2016 in San Jose, California.
Services honoring Mr. Hondo will be held at Kahului Hongwanji on Tuesday, June 7. Public visitation will begin at 10:00am with a memorial service beginning at 11:00am. Mr. Hondo will be laid to rest at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30pm.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years Harriet Hashimoto Hondo his daughter Jean and son-inlaw
Tim Pleasant, two grandchildren Jessica Pleasant and Angela and husband Randy Palisoc, three great grandchildren Ethan, Emily and Ashton all of San Jose, Ca. He also leaves behind
numerous adoring nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his parents Tetsuzo and Tone Hondo and brothers Fred and Norman.
Ralph started worked for HC&S when he was 16 years old in various jobs in the fields and mills for 44 years until his retirement in 1987. Ralph spent his retirement years with his beloved Harriet at their home in Kihei until 2013 when they were moved to San Jose to live with family.
Ralph passed to his next life after a brief illness of pneumonia. Ralph will always be remembered as a hardworking man, gentle, thoughtful and caring who never said an unkind word about anyone.
