Raymond "Yama" Yamamoto's Obituary
Raymond Nobuyoshi "Yama" Yamamoto, 67, went home to our Lord Jesus Christ on June 4, 2017. He was under the care of the ICU at Maui Memorial Medical Center. We thank the ICU staff and doctors for their diligent care of Raymond.
A Celebration of Life Service in honor of Raymond will be held at Pukalani Baptist Church on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Public visitation will be at 9:00am with service at 11am.
Raymond was born on Oahu to Shinobu and Chieko Yamamoto. He was the store manager of Long's Drug Pukalani where he retired after 45 years of employment at various Long's Drug Stores on Maui and on Oahu.
During his earlier years, Raymond enjoyed golfing with his buddies and fishing with his family. Of recent, his passion included singing in the Pukalani Baptist Church choir and chauffeuring his father in law Hiroshi Arisumi around town in the family's red truck. What a pair they were, with driver Raymond at 6 feet and passenger Hiroshi at 5 feet, both obviously enjoying the ride! Raymond's recent interests also embraced attending 442nd events with Hiroshi, including 442nd and family reunions in Las Vegas. Ray was dear to the hearts of his family and friends and lived up to "Everybody Loves Raymond!”
Raymond’s family included his beloved wife June Yamamoto; sons Ross (Jayna) Yamamoto, Rick Yamamoto, Randy Yamamoto; daughter Jaclyn (Cy) Fukagawa; granddaughters Eliana Fukagawa, Jaeda Yamamoto; parents Shinobu & Chieko Yamamoto (both deceased), parents in law Hiroshi & Edna (deceased) Arisumi, brother Milton Yamamoto; sister Marian Yamamoto (deceased); brothers in law Lloyd (Pauline) Arisumi, Baron Sumida; sister in law Adele Sumida; nephews Sanford (Lilin) Arisumi (child Alima), Kevin Yamamoto, Andrew Sumida; nieces Nikki (Dan) Hsiung (children Kamea & Takuma), Katrina Yamamoto (child Jaimelynne).
