Richard Punio Cua's Obituary
Richard Punio Cua, 92, of Kahului, passed away at Hale Makua in Kahului on December 23, 2015.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Nakamura Mortuary, Wailuku, with a service at 11:00 a.m. and luncheon to follow. Burial service with Military Honors will be held on the following Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Maui Veterans Cemetery, Makawao at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Cua was born May 17, 1923 in Bohol, Phillipines, and arrived in Hawaii on February 6, 1925 with late parents Felix, Sr. and Catalina Cua of Paia. He was a retired Print Shop Manager in the agriculture industry and a World War II Army Veteran. “Ricky” was an avid golfer and bowler, a
fisherman, an all-around handyman “Jack of all Trades” with a gift in music—singing, dancing and playing the ukulele. He actively cooked his special recipes for parties and fundraisers.
He is survived by wife Mary Pasion Cua, married August 10, 1947; two brothers Roberto Cua and Felix, Jr. Cua; two sisters Pastora Monces and Tercita (Bado) Salvida; two sons Richard Alan Cua and Clifford Steven (Ann Molina) Cua; two daughters Colleen Marie (Martin) Nagasako and Iris
Ann Yanagisako; 8 grandchildren and 11 greatgrandchildren. (He was predeceased by a son
Reuben Dennis Cua.)
