Richard S. Maeda's Obituary
Richard Maeda, 77, of Kahului, passed away on July 23, 2011 at home under hospice care.Family and friends are invited to attend his celebration of life service on Wednesday, August 10 at Kahului Union Church. Visitation will begin at 8:45 a.m.; with a service at 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park. The family requests casual attire. Nakamura Mortuary is assisting with the arrangements.Mr. Maeda was born on March 4, 1934, in Puunene and grew up in McGerrow Camp. He was predeceased by Doris Maeda, his wife of 55 years before her death in 2007. He was a retired carpenter and maintenance worker with Wailea Development Company.He is survived by sons, Keith (Charla) Maeda, Leslie (Sheryl) Maeda and Lance (Laurene) Maeda; daughters, Gail Edlao, June Maeda, Heidi Maeda; son-in-law, Stanley Edlao; brothers, Masanori Takemoto, Koichi (Helen) Maeda, James Takashi (Joyce) Maeda; sisters, Norie Sakamoto, Mildred (Joe) Hongo; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.He was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed hunting and camping at the beach.
