It was with great sadness we got the information about Ricks passing! Our deepest compassion and condolences goes to Sheila and family. We feel blessed to have known Rick, as a good colleague, but most of all as a dear friend! We will always remember the times spent together with Rick and his family with great joy!

With great sadness and dismay I have received the news of Rick's passing. Rick leaves a big void, not only in his family, but also among his friends and in the seed sector. I will always remember the happy times we have spent together and his big smile. We will miss him. Rick meant so much more to me than I can put into words.
Larger than life itself and whose sudden passing will never seem possible.
He was always there, somewhere, to contact when necessary for whatever reason; business or pleasure.
Adventurous, fearless, his life forever full. Wanting to make the most of the time he had with us all. He was intelligent and knowledgeable about so many things, practical, funny and thoughtful.
His knowledge of the seed and horticultural business world in which he thrived and totally loved will rarely be surpassed. It was his passion. A world of learned information that he would always share as best he could.
He is now and will be forever missed like a father is missed.
All the memories of our times spent together will always keep you close. We will do the best we can to continue the incredible work you have started and strive to reach your goals and high standards.

It is hard to find just one memory of such a great person, there so many. He was bigger than life and the smile speaks for itself. If I had to pick one memory it would be the time when my father died. I went home to see him and as most people know he was not with it. I remember feeling really horrible that this would be the strongest memory of him. It was Rick who assured me that this would not be what I remember about my father that it would of better times and happier memories, for this I was always thankful. I don't think I ever told him that so there you go wherever you are I am forever grateful, lots of love.

Rick had a wonderful sense of adventure and love for nature. Sheila, Ali and Ryan were his life ... nothing was more important to him than his family. He was a lot of fun on the ski slopes and even more fun après ski! He could talk on just about any subject and had time for everyone. He was highly entrepreneurial and smart enough to incorporate his love for travel with his love for botany and was able to see the world doing what he loved best. Rick was a wonderful husband to Sheila, a great father to Ali and Ryan, and a loyal friend to many. His wacky sense of humour and his kind gentle nature will be sadly missed.
