Robert Susumu Morioka
June 30, 1935- September 28, 2023
Robert Susumu Morioka, 88, peacefully passed away at his residence in Kahului. He was the 4th child (2nd son) of 10 children.
Predeceased by parents Goro “Happy Joe” and Momoe Morioka, brothers Clarence Morioka and Thomas Morioka, sisters May Kong and Janet Kong.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Morioka; sons Jon (Dorothy) Morioka, Ted (Carlyn) Morioka, and Paul (Susan Arakaki) Morioka; daughters Susan (Paul-deceased) Silva, and Wanda Morioka; brothers James Morioka, Edward Morioka, and Ronald Morioka; sisters Mildred Toyama and Lana Kusunoki. He also has 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Susu attended Puunene School and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1954. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in South Korea with the 82nd Ordinance, 8th Army. He received an Honorable Discharge as a Specialist 3rd Class when his service was completed.
He retired as a carpenter for the State of Hawaii-DAGS.
A private farewell service will be held for family members at a later date.
