It was very special to have Aunt Robbie as my godmother. Growing up, I always loved telling people that she lived in Maui; everyone thought it was so exciting, and honestly, it was pretty cool. We shared a love for geckos!
When I had the opportunity to visit her, I quickly understood why she loved the island so much. Some of my favorite memories are exploring Maui with her, meeting the friends who became her ohana, and spending evenings on her lanai listening to music and the sound of the ukulele. She had a way of making even the simplest moments feel special.
Although she lived thousands of miles away, our Grammy and Grampy treasured their relationship with her. They looked forward to her phone calls, loved hearing about her life in Hawaii, and cherished the many visits they shared over the years, often making annual trips and sometimes even more frequently. The distance never diminished the bond they shared. She was a huge part of their lives, and they were a huge part of hers.
Aunt Robbie embraced the aloha spirit in everything she did. She was kind, welcoming, and deeply connected to the community she built over the many years she called Lahaina home. It was clear how much she loved the people around her, and how much they loved her in return.
I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to her Hawaii family and friends for the love, friendship, and support you gave her throughout the years. Whether you checked in on her, shared a laugh, offered a helping hand, or simply spent time together, you helped make Maui the home she cherished. Knowing she was surrounded by such caring people brought great comfort to those of us who loved her from afar.
I feel fortunate to have shared these memories with her and will always cherish the time we spent together. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
