Rochelle "Chaco" Ann Yap-Kaauwai's Obituary
Rochelle “Chaco” Ann Yap-Kaauwai of Kahului passed away peacefully at home under the care of Islands Hospice on February 11, 2019.
She was born in Wailuku on October 19, 1973. A celebration of life honoring “Chaco” will be held at the Hale Nanea Clubhouse, 69 Amala Road, Kahului on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Services start at 12 Noon with a luncheon to follow.
Chaco was a graduate of Maui High School, class of 1991. She was a big football fan and a diehard Redskins fan. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards and having a few at the beach or with good company, it was her thing. Listening to 80’s & 90’s music made her happy, but life was her fight and family is what mattered the most.
She was a member of the Ekalesia O Kupaianaha in Wailuku. She worked for Speedi Shuttle, Primo VIP & Roberts Hawaii.
Rochelle is survived by her husband, Paul K. Kaauwai. Sons: Ezra Ah Sing K. Kaauwai, Ekolu (Ashley) Ah Yee. Daughters: Ming (Donald) Dudoit III, Kum-Lin (Jonelle) Kaauwai. Grandchildren: Destyn and Hilinai Dudoit. Brothers: Raymond Ah Sing “Butch” (Brandi) Yap III and Patrick Kepano. Sisters: Michelle (John) Awai, Sandy Kepano, Britchard Kepano, Melveen (Kaipo) Pelekane. Uncles, Aunties, Nieces, Nephews and lots of cousins. She is predeceased by her parents Leona “Lee” Yap and Raymond Ah Sing “Butch” Yap Jr. Grandparents: Rev. Solomon and Mabel Lee Sr., and Gladys Peralta. The family would like to thank Islands Hospice and their awesome staff: nurses, Susan & Lauren, doctors Termulo and Tanya Takitani-Apo. Keoki, Margaret and a special mahalo to M.J. “Jazzy” for all you have continued to do and the care you gave our “Tita”. May God continue to bless each and every one of you.
