Roland Yuso Ibara's Obituary
ROLAND YUSO IBARA, 86, of Haliimaile passed away peacefully on July 12, 2021 at home. Roland was born In Hana, Maui to Kazuo and Yoneko Ibara. He later moved to Haliimaile during grade school and graduated from Maui High School.
Roland was employed with Maui Land & Pineapple Company until he retired as Transportation Supervisor after 48 years of service. He also served in the Army National Guard for 17 years. He enjoyed spending time in Hana during the summer with relatives, liked to go bowling, and loved to travel to Las Vegas to gamble. He loved to take the grandkids to McDonald”s after picking them up from school. Roland was a selfless, kind and a humble man.
He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn Ibara and seven children.
Roxanne Ibara-Hinau (Edward), Gregory Ibara, Curt Ibara (April), Tracy Ibara, Gemma Ibara, Kim Ibara (Jonathan), Wendy Santiago (Michael). Grandchildren: Isa-Lei Obermier (Josh), Curtis Hinau, Gregory Ibara Jr., Shai Ibara, Kayla Yago, Jared Yago, and Jayden Santiago. Great- grandchildren: Aubree and Gunner Obermier.
Siblings: Shirley King, Richard Ibara (Hisae) and June Takenaka.
Roland is pre-deceased by his parents Kazuo and Yoneko Ibara and brother Allen Ibara Sr.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Nakamura’s Mortuary.
Public viewing will be from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Maui Memorial Park at 12:30 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, public viewing(visitation), is walk thru only. “ Reminder that masks and social distancing is required.”
The Family would like to thank Islands Hospice. Especially Beverly, Lauren and Dr. Noel Termulo. We also would like to thank Maui Day Care Center and the nurses who took care of him, Elsa and Lydia. Thank you to MEO bus service for picking him up and bringing him home.
We are so grateful that you were part of his life during his illness to provide comfort and love.
