Ruth was born on February 18, 1930, in Puunene to Tadashi & Nao Masuoka. She was the fifth of six children. After graduating from Baldwin High School in 1948, Ruth went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from the George Peabody College for Teachers. Upon her return to Hawaii, she met her love, Clarence Okamura. The couple raised two children together while Mrs. Okamura was teaching at Kula Elementary School, a career that spanned over 30 years before her retirement in 1985. When she wasn’t at work, she enjoyed spending time with her children, helping them in any way she could, and gardening. She will be remembered as a friendly, open and social woman who put others before herself.
Mrs. Okamura is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Mr. Clarence Okamura; daughter, Lori Okamura; and son, Rod Okamura.
