Shigeo Yamashita's Obituary
Shigeo Yamashita was born September 16, 1919 in Huelo, Maui.
He died on January 31, 2014 at the age of 94. Shigeo passed peacefully at home per his wishes with the love and support of his family, friends, and Hospice Maui.
Shigeo was pre-deceased by his parents, Kametaro & Tsuya Yamashita, wife Matsu, brother Victor Yamashita, sisters’ Doreen “T” Hasuko and Margaret Yamashita. He is survived by brother Sueo Yamashita, sisters’ Sally Hinaga, Sybil (Raymond) Herbrick and their families.
Shigeo was a retired carpenter and enjoyed working in his garden, sitting under his mango tree on the picnic bench and walking along the river.
A loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Shigeo will be remembered for his many life stories and “words of wisdom”.
Tony, Margo and Chloe Madriaga would like to thank everyone for being a part of Shigeo’s very full life. In his last days he would often say “Why are people so nice to me? I’m so lucky”.
A brief service prior to interment at the Makawao Veterans Cemetary will take place on Monday, February 24, 2013 at 11:30am. In lieu of Flowers and Koden please make donations to Hospice Maui.
