Shirley Yukiko Kaya's Obituary
Shirley Yukiko Kaya, 90, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 at Hale Makua with her loving family by her side.
Services honoring Mrs. Kaya were held privately. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
Shirley was born on November 28, 1926 in Haiku to Nisaku & Tochi Nakamura. Many will remember her as the owner & operator of Shirley’s Drive-In. She was a hard worker, wonderful cook, and would do anything for her family. After closing the restaurant, she enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with her friends to shop and play slots. Her favorite thing to do though, was spend time with her treasured grandchildren. She doted on her three grandchildren, and later her three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Kaya leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Linda Oshiro; sons, Michael (Amy) Kaya & Gerald Kaya; grandchildren, Ryan Oshiro, Michelle & Travis Kaya; great-grandchildren, Giovanni, Gianna & Giuliana Liburdi.
Shirley's family would like to extend a special mahalo to the staff at Hale Makua Kahului for the excellent and personal care of Mrs. Kaya.
