Sidney Shigeo Hamamoto's Obituary
Sidney Shigeo Hamamoto, 78 of Paia, passed away peacefully at his Kahului Residence on Sunday, January 19, 2020 surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Paia and a very respected painter by trade, Sidney loved to go fishing, picking takenoko and drinking with his buddies. He was a loving husband and a very loving dad, always there no matter what. We will miss his practicality, laughter, and no-nonsense sense of humor.
Sidney is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughters, Shantel (Faiva) Fonohema and Sindylu (Ekolu) Medeiros; brother, Darwin (Alice) Hamamoto of Aiea and sister, Laurie Nishioka of Kailua. His 6 grandsons, Kilohoku, Kody, Kalon, Kristopher, Sidney and Ian and 3 great granddaughters, Kaydence, Makayla and Peyton.
Service will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Kahului Union Church. Casual attire requested. Light refreshments to follow.
We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our family and friends for their love and continued support. And to the staff of Islands Hospice for their compassionate care.
