December 15, 1941 – March 30, 2017
Solomon Kolomona Mahuna, 75, passed away at his home in Honokowai on Thursday, March 30, 2017.
Solomon was born on December 15, 1941 in Kaupo, Maui to Solomon and Henrietta (Kan Hai) Mahuna. He was the 2nd of 5 children. Solomon was retired, but was a construction worker most of his life. He was best known for his singing and playing the ukulele. He entertained, as part of a trio, at various resorts over his career. Most notably the Sea House Restaurant at the Napili Kai Beach Hotel, where he entertained for over 30 years.
Solomon was preceded in death by his father, Solomon Mahuna, brother, Charles Mahuna, and sister, Heneli Mahuna Owens. He leaves behind his children Sandy (Kory) Kukahiko, Brian (Debbie) Mahuna, and Peter (Shawna) Mahuna; mother, Henrietta Mahuna, sisters, Hana Yarborough and Malia Cyphers, 8 grandchildren and a great grandson.
Sandy, Brian and Peter would like to thank the staff at McDonald’s Kahana for greeting him so warmly each morning when he arrived to have his breakfast these last few years. He was a man with a routine! We appreciate your kind words and sharing memories of how he touched your lives.
We would also like to thank Hospice Maui, and especially nurse Barbara, for all their support through this very difficult time. We are so grateful for their services.
A simple Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
