Stanford Leland Brody Jr.'s Obituary
Stanford (Stan) Brody, 67, of Lahaina, Maui, sadly left us on Wednesday, July 10th at 8am after a two year and seven month brave battle with stage four lung cancer. He was the best husband and an amazing father, loved to tell stories, and discover new, tasty food wherever he went. Stan was born on March 25, 1957, in Wayne, Pennsylvania. He attended Radnor High School and went on to attend Jacksonville University, where he became a core staff member of the college’s basketball team. Stan loved pizza, so much so that he opened up a pizza shop called Pie in the Sky in Wayne which he owned and operated for 10 years. After a spooky black ice encounter which almost resulted in a car accident, he swore to never drive in snow again and moved to Hawaii. Once he was on Maui, he paved the Ritz Carlton Kapalua’s tennis courts and worked there for 27 years until his retirement in 2019. He enjoyed a touch of retirement with his favorite food, sushi, and many Eagles football games. Stan is survived by his wife of 23 years, Maryna Brody, daughter, Katya Brody, mother-in-law Larysa Patapenko, aunty, Ada Kanivetska, favorite cats, Bubba, Ili, and Tosha, and siblings Leslie Brody, Ryan Brody, Richard Brody, Peter Brody, Sally Werblun and her husband Barry Werblun, and his niece and nephew Leah and Max Werblun.
Please join us for a celebration of Stan's life on Monday July 29th, 2024 at Airport Beach (his favorite place to watch the sunset) from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Nothing fancy, just The Grateful Dead, The Beatles, and Little Feat, and some food and drinks. Feel free to bring whatever you'd like, even if it's just yourself. Stan wasn’t a fan of parties, but we hope he will like this.
