Takeo Aotaki's Obituary
Mr. Takeo Aotaki, 90, of Lahaina, passed away peacefully September 30, 2015, at his residence in Lahaina under the comforting care of Hospice Maui.
A Memorial service will take place on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Lahaina Jodo Mission, with visitation to begin at 4:00p.m. and services beginning at 5:00p.m.
Mr. Aotaki was born Aug. 21, 1925, in Crater Village, Lahaina. He was the son of Hachiemon and Iwano Aotaki.
He was a truck driver for the Pioneer Mill Co. for most of his life.
Mr. Aotaki was predeceased by his wife, Fumiye Aotaki, whom he was married to for 58 years before her passing in 2014.
Mr. Aotaki is survived by son, Lloyd (Terry) Aotaki; daughter, Karen (Curtis) Ng; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Jonathan Ng. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory, Sisters Natsuko Kaya, Kiyomi Yano, Kazumi Hanzawa, Miyoko Aoki and Sakae (Shigeru) Uehara; and a brother, Akio (Shizue) Aotaki along with many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Aotaki will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a very active member of the Lahaina Jodo Mission and could often be found giving his time to maintenance and upkeep of the temple grounds. At home, Takeo enjoyed his vegetable garden and was especially proud of his mango trees. While he was a life-long resident of Lahaina, he often took quick trips to Las Vegas to try his hand at black jack, and of course, enjoy buffets. The only thing he loved more, was visiting California to spend time with his children, and his beloved grandchildren.
