Teruichi Akiyama's Obituary
Teruichi “Aki” Akiyama, 95, of Kahului, passed away peacefully at Maui Memorial Medical Center on April 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Services honoring Mr. Akiyama were held privately at his request.
Teruichi was born in Puunene on June 14, 1920 to Toranosuke & Fuki (Nanba) Akiyama. He married Betty C. Akiyama, and together they raised four wonderful children. He was a carpenter. In his spare time, Aki enjoyed sports and spending time with his family. He was a golfer, bowler, diver, and tako fisherman. You could find Aki, every week at Waiehu Golf course, enjoying good company and a round of golf. He also took frequent trips to Las Vegas, and Washington to visit with family.
Mr. Akiyama was predeceased by his parents, Toranosuke & Fuki (Nanba) Akiyama; his wife, Betty C. Akiyama; his son, Alan Akiyama; and his grandson, Ricky Akiyama. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, children, Steve (Lynne) Akiyama, Joyce Matsumura, Linda (Phil) Coleon; daughter-in-law, Jeannie Akiyama; grandchildren, Jeannine, Michelle, Melanie, Marcy, Kyle, Malissa, Shayna & Christopher, and 12 great-grandchildren.
