Tetsuo Gushi's Obituary
Tetsuo “Tets” Gushi, 82, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2016 at Hale Makua Kahului surrounded by his loving family.
Services honoring Mr. Gushi will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Thursday, October 20, 2016. Visitation will begin at 11:00am, with a memorial service beginning at 12:00pm. Mr. Gushi will be laid to eternal rest at Maui Memorial Park at 2:00pm.
Tets was born on January 16, 1934 in Puunene to Machiju & Uto Gushi. He proudly served in the both the Army and Air Force. Upon his return, he was a bellhop with the Sheraton Maui for over 32 years. After retiring from the Sheraton, Tets went on to work as a lot attendant at Budget Rent a Car for the next 8 years. When he finally retired, he enjoyed golfing with the Fil-Am Club at Waiehu golf course, watching football, and singing karaoke. He will be remembered as a quiet man, who enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
Tets leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of almost 30 years, Harriet Gushi; daughter, Mokihana Gushi; sons, James (Michelle) Mendes & John (Brenda) Mendes; sister, Hachan (Brian) Shima; sister-in-law, Miki Gushi, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren
