Thelma Marie Yoshiko Kawamura's Obituary
Thelma K. Yoshiko Kawamura, 79, of Lahaina, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017 at the Islands Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.
Services honoring Mrs. Kawamura were held privately.
Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
Mrs. Kawamura was born in Lahaina on October 23, 1937 to Kiyoichi & Racheal Kiyonaga. She was one of twelve siblings. She graduated from Lahainaluna High School in 1954, and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly thereafter.
She was affectionately known as “Aunty” at the 76 Gas Station in Lahaina, where she retired as a clerk. When not working, she enjoyed writing poetry, sewing, crocheting, doing needle point and watching Wheel of Fortune.
She was predeceased by her husband, Satoru “Blackie” Kawamura. Mrs. Kawamura leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Lisa Hess; son, David Kawamura; grandchildren, Gregg “Kiyo” Domogma, Austin Domogma, Zachary Hess and Madi Hess; brothers, Stanley (Jackie) Kiyonaga, Masao Kiyonaga, Larry (Chie) Kiyonaga, Kenneth (Thelma) Kiyonaga, Richard (Holly) Kiyonaga; sisters, Vivian Kiyonaga and Emi Sakamoto; and many loving nieces and nephews.
