Theodore "Ted" Carson's Obituary
THEODORE "Ted" Leroy CARSON, 81, passed away peacefully at home in Wailuku, HI, on August 13. Born in Newport, R.I., he was one of six children of the late James Douglas and Aria Elizabeth (Thomas) Carson. Ted worked as Postmaster at the Newport War College before retiring and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was the last of the Carson/Beard generation family including deceased siblings Grace Beard, Charles Beard, James Douglas, Jr., Edward and Robert Herbert Carson. While Ted was predeceased by Mildred L. Henderson, his wife of 38 years, until her death in 1992, he is survived by seven children Stephen, Gary, Wayne, Raymond, Ed, Michele and Shawn; 11 grandchildren Israel David, Shaun Stephen, Kyle Richard, Troy Nicolas, Kiyoshi Leroy, Kendra Anne, Kalikiano Thomas, Kaye L., Nicolas Kauilani, Ella Kalakupua, and Jordan Christopher and dozens of nieces and nephews. In addition to tireless service with the MLK Center, the Red Cross, St. Mary's Church and The Boy's and Girl's Club of Newport, Ted also rose to Fourth Degree Grand Master of The Knights of Columbus and was committed to The Jaycees, The Rotary and The Lions Clubs, among other organizations. Memorial visitation and mass from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. will be held on Friday, Aug. 26 at St. Anthony's Church at 1627 B Mill Street, Wailuku, Maui. Refreshments will be served at the Carson family home afterwards.
