Tokuji Suyama, 90, of Kahului, passed away peacefully at Kula Hospital on February 28, 2016 with his loving family by his side

Services honoring Mr. Suyama were held privately at his request.
Tokuji was born on May 9, 1925 in Papaikou to Shinjiro & Michi Suyama. In 1932, the young family moved to Japan, where Tokuji learned to tailor clothing. Upon their return to Hawaii, Tokuji took a job with Matson. In his spare time, Tokuji enjoyed the arts. He loved music, photography, and once was a projectionist for the Queen Theater on Oahu.
On Maui, he was a fabricator for HC&S, where he met his love, Mrs. Takiko Suyama. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, spending time with their children. Tokuji will be remembered as a social, kind, generous and helpful man.
Mr. Suyama was predeceased by his beloved wife of over 42 years, Mrs. Takiko Suyama.
He is survived by sons, Mervin (Akemi) Suyama & Michael (Colleen) Suyama; and five grandchildren, Tessie, Nadine, Terrance, Miles and Michelle Suyama.
