I had the privilege of woikrng with Jere in the forestry side of GP when it existed here in Fort Bragg. I always admired Jere's sense of humor and honest straight forward approach to any challenge placed before him. He taught me things I never knew about the forest lands I grew up in. When I began my law enforcement career began, Jere was right there to support me, and always encouraged me along the way. He showed up to each one of my swearing in ceremonies in his high water Ben Davis pants, usually covered from head to toe with sweat and dust from having just arrived from the woods. He was truly a pillar in the coastal community that anchored Fort Bragg to the very roots that put it on the map. Jere's leadership and calm mannerism in the community will surely be missed. I will miss you Jere, and know that none of us in the law enforcement family here in Mendocino County will rest until justice is served.##imported-begin##Sabine##imported-end##

I was lucky enough to have wekrod with Jere for two years buying logs for the sawmill, Jere was honest, hardworking, hillarious, loud and insightful. Some memories I have are seeing Jere in the office working with a little old lady about her water bill in the morning, and at lunch discussing a skateboard park with teenagers, he truely wanted to reach out and help anyone he could for the greater good of the community. His typewriter next to his computer was a testament to him adjusting to modernization the way only Jere could, on my desk I could find Jere old school e-mail in the form of hand typed little notes, and at the same time a detailed timber cruise report that he wekrod up with a custom program he had written for his computer . I learned so much about how I wanted to conduct my life and deal with people from my short time with Jere, he was a great man. Aloha Urayanza family. My name is Mia and I grew up with Tonia, Max, and Larry in the Urayanza house on Paka Place in Kihei. We had such wonderful times together. I have many fond memories of my cousins. I lost touch with everyone after I left for college and haven't seen or talked to anyone in 20 years. I always think of them and talk about them when I recall childhood stories. I remember Tonia used to love to wear makeup, especially her blue eyeshadow and she would sometimes sneak wearing her "full face" of make up. I also remember her driving that luxurious Buick Riviera all over the place. She looked so glamorous! Tonia had such a kind heart and beautiful spirit. I am sad to hear of her passing.
