Hoshide, Tsuruyo's Obituary
Tsuruyo Hoshide, 88, passed away peacefully at the Hospice Maui Hale,
in Wailuku, Hawaii, on April 23, 2026. She was born on May 29, 1937, in
Lahaina, Hawaii. Tsuruyo was a beautician at Kapahulu Beauty Salon, on
Oahu, where she resided until moving back to Maui to be closer to her
granddaughters. She is survived by her daughters, Traci (Kevin) Kubo and Jonelle
Hoshide; her granddaughters, Brynn, Peytynn, and Shelby Kubo; sisters,
Kikue (Nobuo) Kanemoto, Kathleen (Mark) Miyakawa; brother Joe
(Barbara) Tanaka, and many nieces and nephews. Tsuruyo is predeceased by her
husband, Roy Hoshide; parents, Yoshiro and Hanayo Tanaka; sisters, Yoshie (Hideo)
Kamimoto, Sumiko Yoshino; brothers, Yoshinobu Yoshino, Yoshiharu Yoshino,
Yoshikazu (Yoshiko) Yoshino, Katsuichi (Lillian) Yoshino, and Kameo (Amelia) Tanaka.
Her family would like to thank everyone at Hospice Maui for their
exceptional care and compassion during Tsuruyo's final months. A special
thank you to her Hospice Maui nurses, Kathy and Josephine, and her
CNA, Nalani for their weekly home visits and unrelenting warmth and
support. Those visits meant a lot to her and her family.
Private memorial services will be held in June.
