Utae Sudo Isaacs' Obituary
Utae Isaacs, 91, Formerly of San Diego, CA passed away peacefully on February 27, 2021, at her home in Wailuku, Maui, With her sons Shinji & Paul by her side. She is also survived by brothers Mitsuyoshi and Jushichiro, Sisters in law Junko & Reiko, Grandchildren Marley Bo & Shayla Melodie, Nieces Janet, Cathy, Keylana, Yoko, Izumi, Kaoru, and Nephews Nobuzumi & Kenichi.
Utae was the third of seven children born to University Administrator, Murasuke Sudo & Kimono Seamstres, Mitsu, and was raised in the Nerma District of Tokyo. An adolescent during WWII, She went on to do clerical work for the Emperor's Private School, then later in her 20's, Occasional Voiceover & Extra work for the Japanese film Industry. She once met Joe Dimaggio and even shared a moment of screen time with Mickey Rooney, William Holden & Grace Kelly in "The Bridges at Toko-Ri".
In 1960 she married US Naval Officer Charles Isaacs (Predeceased) and moved to Arlington, VA in 1962. Eventually settling near San Diego, CA several years later. Utae relocated to Maui in 1992 to be closer to her grandchildren, and was the consumate Homemaker & host, greeting everyone she crossed paths with a beautiful genuine smile and a bow on her head. She was a talented artist and cook, her garden & home always immaculate. She was active in the Japanese/Okinawan community, dancing for a traditional Paranku group and enjoyed playing gateball a couple times a week.
She will be returned to her husband's side in Arlington National Cemetery, Where a small private ceremony will be held. No other services are planned at the moment.
