Valerie C. Eharis Regan's Obituary
Valerie Eharis Regan, beloved sister and close friend of many, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, in a foster care home under Hospice Maui. Val was so full of life and her laughter was contagious and echoed throughout the room. Her smiling eyes and her dimples defined her engaging expression. She was a captivating storyteller inviting other people to tell their stories. Val's generosity to people whom she loved and met let people know they were important. Being with Val made you feel happy and an encounter with her always left you with a smile on your face.
Val was born in Hana, Maui, lived in Las Vegas and Oregon. She traveled extensively in the US and in Mexico riding on Motorcycle. In her youth she was first runner up in a Miss Maui Contest. She was a captivating Tahitian dancer. Val's career was extensive - she was a valuable member of a negotiating team in a school district in Oregon, negotiating union contracts, for almost 27 years. In 1997 she moved to be with family on Maui after she was diagnosed with debilitating rheumatoid arthritis. She remained busy helping people complete social security disability applications, learning to make Hawaiian quilts, crocheting, planning evens for family reunions and senior citizen groups and learning to play the piano. Val also loved to write "small kid time" stories.
Val is survived by her sister, Barbara "Bobbie" Eharis Adams and her brother, Roland G. Eharis Jr., sister-in-law, Lucille (Franco), brother-in-law, Larry Adams, nieces Malia Adams, Renee Kramer, Makalani Franco-Francis, Shannon Eharis, and nephew Makana Eharis, grandnephews Kellan Ferguson, Malu Carter, Maa Carter, Zyron and Zayven Eharis-Kaina and RJ Eharis and grandnieces Grace Fergurson, Sage Kramer, Sianna Kramer, and Malie Carter, Zaila Eharis-Kaina, Zehee Eharis-Kaina and Zayarie Eharis-Kaina and Zarai Eharis-Kaina.
Valerie is greatly missed and if you close your eyes and listen carefully you can hear her laughter in the wind.
Services will be held at St. Anthony Church in Wailuku, Maui on August 9, 2025. Funeral Mass will be from 9am-12p. Viewing to begin at 9am-10:30am, Eulogy at 10:30am-11am, mass to follow 11a-12p.
