Virginia “Virgie” Dofa
June 19, 1933 – August 8, 2023
Virginia “Virgie” Dofa, 90, of Lahaina was born in Olowalu, Maui on June 19, 1933. She was a resident of Hale Mahaolu Eono in Lahaina and passed away unexpectedly.
Virgie was loved by her children; Johanna (Stanley) Abihai, Charley (Barbie) Dofa, Janice Yakut, Teressa (Gus) Romero, Harold Dofa, Stephanie (Dean) Rickard; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Pre-deceased by parents; Cornelio and Theresa Panis and siblings Alfredo “Felipe” Panis, Marcelino “Barney” Panis, Margaret Abellanida and Mamerta Ramos and her partner Eddie Babas. Also loved by 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Virgie was known for her love of cooking and sharing of food with others. She was also very strong in her faith. She loved her many grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved her just as much in return.
Virgie was employed as a cook for many years with Host Marriott at the Honolulu International Airport. She enjoyed watching Korean shows, bowling, thrift shopping of figurines and clocks and visiting with friends and family. And of course, cooking for others.
Services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Wailuku on Friday, September 22, 2023. Visitation will begin at 9am. Mass from 10:00am to 11:00 am.
