Takaki, Wayne Nobuichi's Obituary
On September 20, 2024, our brother Wayne, 71, passed peacefully and was called home to Heaven, reunited with his parents, Thomas and Rose Takaki; wife, Carol; and son, Andrew. Wayne was the eldest of six children. At 12 years old, he became the "man of the house" when our Dad passed away leaving Mom with six children aged 3 to 12. He was a big brother to one brother and four sisters, never letting any of us down-always lending a hand or just being someone to talk story and laugh with. Wayne loved his family and friends, loved to golf, watch sports with his brother Vince, and spend time with friends. One of Wayne's passions was his love of cooking! His specialty was chow fun and dry mein. Yum!!
Wayne was a 1970 graduate of St. Anthony High School and attended Maui Community College and University of Hawaii. He worked at several companies on Maui, Oahu, and the Big Island: Ooka Supermarket, Foodland Beretania, Sure Save Market in Hilo, Hopaco, Brown & Willamson, Star Ice & Soda, and Home Maid Bakery. Wayne was also a member of Maui Beach Golf Club.
Wayne is survived by his younger brother, Vince, and four sisters: Joan (Yanazaki), Jean, Valerie (Wendell Takata), and Rosie (Bob O'Rourke); girlfriend Yong Han; stepdaughters, Anh Thu Nguyen and Thao (Rodney Keahi); grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Rest in God's love, Wayne. We will always love and miss you but are comforted knowing that you are in a truly beautiful place. Thank you for being such a wonderful big brother and friend! You will forever be in our hearts!
We thank You, Jesus, for blessing our family with such a special brother! And to all of you who kept Wayne in your thoughts and prayers, our family extends our love and heartfelt thank you!
Our family would like to thank the staff at Islands Hospice Maui for their compassionate care. Private service was held earlier.
