Yoshinobu "Zigo" Kodama's Obituary
Yoshinobu “Zigo” Kodama, 85, of Wailuku, passed away at Maui Memorial Medical Center on January 20, 2018. He was born on August 6, 1932 in Kahului, Maui.
Zigo attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His college studies were suspended when he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He graduated with a degree in business administration in 1957 upon his return to Hawaii. After graduation, he worked for a trucking company in Honolulu. He returned to Maui in 1961 to assist in managing the family owned business, Standard Furniture and Appliance. He was also an active member of the Jaycees of Maui. When he wasn’t in the store, you would find him at the Maehara Baseball Stadium cheering on the youth baseball players. His love for the sport and the players lasted a lifetime.
He is survived by his wife Irene Kodama; sons Kyle (Wendy) Kodama, Blake (Coreen) Kodama, Scott (Catherine) Kodama; grandchildren Brooke, Sarah, and Claire; brother, Douglas (Stella) Kodama; sister Yemiko (Goro) Endo.
Services will be held at Nakamura Mortuary on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m., with services beginning at 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of his Life will follow at Dani’s Catering Hall.
