Yukio Otani's Obituary
The Otani family announces the passing of Yukio Otani on September 27, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones. Yukio, 94, was born to Magoichi and Yukino Otani on January 16, 1926, on Maui.
Yukio was a Kula farmer for many years and spent over 25 years working for the State of Hawaii CTAHR where he retired as Station Manager. After retirement, Yukio pursued his passion for farming and grew beautiful protea on his farm in Kula. To many who knew him, Yukio's favorite pastime was going to Las Vegas several times a year where he shared his love for gambling with the entire family.
Yukio is predeceased by his wife, Violet, son, Glenn, and daughter-in-law, June Otani. He is survived by his daughters Sharon (Roy) Tanaka and Diane (Harvey) Owara; grandchildren Dawn (Alfredo) Otani-Hernandez, Russell Otani, Kraig (Heather) Otani, Ryan (Jena) Tanaka and Jennifer (Kevin) Asuncion; great grandchildren Brendan, Kaitlyn, Jaeden, Kaia, Kensie, Graydon and Hunter.
Yukio's ashes will be interred at Makawao Hongwanji until services are deemed safe to celebrate his life. Private services are pending
