Darlene Francis Bowers' Obituary
Ms. Darlene Francis Bowers, 84, of Kahului, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2015 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
Services honoring Ms. Bowers will be held at Maui Memorial Park-Maui View on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 12:30pm. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements.
Darlene was born on March 7, 1931 to Orrin & Florence Bowers in Omaha, Nebraska. Throughout her life, Ms. Bowers always active in her community. She always took great pride in serving her neighbors, volunteering and had a way of bringing others together like no one else could. In her earlier years, she attended Washington State College, where she was affiliated with the Delta Gamma Sorority. After moving to California, she stayed home to raise her 4 daughters, but remained active by making time to be a Candy Striper at El Camino Hospital. She later became a receptionist for a doctor’s office and later an expeditor for the Raychem Corp. After moving to New York, Darlene found work as a Pharmacy tech for Wegmans. She later volunteered at the Senior Center and Community Pool Center in Connecticut. Finally on Maui, a place she loved dearly, she again found a way to make her surroundings a better place. She became the president of the Hale Mahaolu Elua Seniors Club, she volunteered her time at the Women Helping Women’s Revive Boutique and the Friend of the Library book store.
Ms. Bowers was predeceased by her parents, Orrin & Florence Bowers; her eldest daughter, Karen Lee Willoughby; and her grandson, Robert Allen Damico.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sister, Bonnie (Jim) Johnson; daughters, Dianne Elaine Hansen, Nancy Joan (Tony) Vito, and Kristy Ann (Justin) Damico, and many treasured grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
