Jean Stapleton Coleman's Obituary
Jean Stapleton Coleman, 91, of Makawao, formerly of Honolulu, died Dec. 22, in Kahului.
Jean was born Feb. 16, 1925, in Detroit, to Charles and Roselind Stapleton. She lived mostly in Hawaii, but loved to travel, including spending eight years in Japan, where she married and had three of her four children; three years, starting in 1978, circling the globe teaching English and doing astrology charts; and five years while in her 60s in Holland and Tunisia with the U.S. Foreign Service.
In Hawaii and Florida in the 1960s, Jean was active in the Republican Party. In the 1970s, back in Hawaii, she was publisher of a tourism magazine, president of the Hawaii Advertising Federation and, in 1978, named Hawaii Advertising Woman of the Year.
She is survived by children Mark, Lori, Paul and Kevin, hanai daughter Julie Wilkinson, five grand-children, six nieces and a nephew, and many friends.
Jean’s life will be celebrated Feb. 18 on Oahu.
