Joe Calitri
He went by the nickname, "Gopher," and I remember him with great fondness. Jeff was a great guy, a wonderful friend, and the best point guard I ever played basketball with. I only wish we had spent more time as teammates in summer and YMCA leagues, but our paths obviously took us in different directions. His mom and dad warmly welcomed me into their home and his brother, Donnie, was always congenial. Back in the 1970s, Jeff and I built a portable basketball backboard and rim which could be attached to the diving board in his pool, and we enjoyed many times together shooting hoops there. I send my deepest sympathies to all of Jeff's family and friends, and may the Good Lord Bless his soul.
