John Edward Pierce's Obituary
June 22, 1956 – June 13, 2025
John “Jack” Edward Pierce passed away peacefully in Maui, Hawaii, on June 13, 2025, surrounded by the beauty and warmth he so deeply cherished. Born on June 22, 1956, in Kankakee, Illinois, Jack lived a full and meaningful life rooted in family, service, and adventure.
A devoted husband, father, and friend, Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Pierce; his cherished son, Douglas Pierce, who resides in Hong Kong; and his beloved daughter, Stephanie Pierce, who lives in Los Angeles, California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Pierce; his father, Mortimer Pierce; and his brother, Robert Pierce. Jack’s love for his family was steadfast and evident in every chapter of his life.
Jack pursued his education at Illinois State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business before becoming a Certified Public Accountant. With a natural talent for numbers and a strong ethical compass, Jack built a distinguished career in the financial sector. He served as an internal auditor and financial risk manager at several respected institutions, including Continental Bank and Trust in Chicago, Illinois; Old Kent Bank in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Santa Barbara Bank and Trust in Santa Barbara, California; and Bank of America in Calabasas, California.
A man of quiet generosity, Jack gave back to his community through volunteer work, most notably preparing taxes free of charge through AARP’s tax assistance program.
In 2021, after Linda’s retirement, Jack and Linda made Kaanapali, Maui their full-time home, embracing the island life with gratitude and joy.
Jack’s passions extended well beyond his professional life. He was an avid sports fan, loyally supporting his hometown Chicago teams through every season. His greatest joy, however, came from traveling the world with his family. Together, they visited every continent except Antarctica. Among his most treasured memories was experiencing the awe-inspiring Big Five on safari in Africa—a moment that brought him pure joy.
Jack’s presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of integrity, curiosity, and steadfastness lives on in all who knew him. His life was a testament to living with purpose and strength of spirit.
A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to the American Cancer Society to support the fight against melanoma.
Rest in peace, Jack. Your journey continues in the hearts of those you touched.
